Scholars’ Potluck

March 18 marked our annual combined Scholarship Potluck and Spring Hymn Fest.   The money raised ($2,717) will go to supporting Mexican Scholars in Ciudad Juarez, so they can get beyond a 6th-grade education; supporting a Seminary student from partner Caibarién Presbyterian-Reformed Church of Caibarién, Cuba to attend seminary; and $500 scholarships for our college-bound youth.  Additionally, $130 was raised for the Heifer Fund.

The food included some great Mexican and Cuban dishes.

THE SEASON OF LENT: And Jesus said. . .

Throughout the season of Lent, which begins with Ash Wednesday on February 14, we will be reflecting on what Jesus said to his followers and those seeking to understand his ministry. On Ash Wednesday, we will begin with what Jesus had to say about humility in the disciplines of our faith – fasting, giving to others, and prayer. The service is at 7:00 pm and will include the impostion of ashes. Join us as we begin our journey to Jerusalem.

Thursday Morning Bible Study will start up again on January 11th at 10:30 am.

We will be doing a study of 1st and 2nd Thessalonians and Colossians. Come for a lively discussion and good learning! What better New Year’s resolution than to learn more from scripture!

AND THE BAND PLAYED ON: Tues. 10:00-noon

The New Horizons Band will be rehearsing in our sanctuary each Tuesday from 10:00 am til noon. This is a group of retired musicians who simply love to get together and play. Sometime in the course of their season, we hope to have them give a concert for us! Welcome to our new musical neighbors!
