Beginning Tuesday, August 15, the New Horizons Band will be rehearsing in our sanctuary each Tuesday from 10:00 am til noon. This is a group of retired musicians who simply love to get together and play. Sometime in the course of their season, we hope to have them give a concert for us! Welcome to our new musical neighbors!
The Chile Festival is a large community affair that draws several thousand guests over a two-day period. All proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity in Albuquerque. Over the past 19 years this event has provided over $185,000 for the construction of Habitat for Humanity homes in Albuquerque.
The Festival provides a wide array of activities for the entire family. There are over 60 local crafters, a bake sale, a silent auction, great local musical groups, children’s crafts and activities, a book sale, a plant sale, food booths, fresh roasted chili (of course) and many more things to see and do. Visitors from across the metropolitan area attend this North Valley event, which is staffed exclusively by volunteers.
There are multiple levels for sponsorship opportunities which help offset Chile Festival production costs, including tent, chair and table rentals, equipment, supplies, etc. Your contributions are tax-deductible, or alternatively a business may choose to expense the amount as advertising.
Please visit the Chile Festival website for complete details.
The city of Rio Rancho hosts an annual gathering in Haynes Park for the community to come together for an afternoon of family fun. The event is from Noon to 4:00 pm on August 20th and we would like to have a presence there. There will be a game children can play with prizes.
