Family Corona-Needs Update
Because we can’t ‘network’ on Sunday mornings as we usually do, we want to put the word out about needs among us.
Rental home needed
3-bedroom, preferably in the Rio Rancho area.
If you are able to help on the rental, or know one, please let Pastor Kathy know.
We had a successful Lysol Wipes Op! Score! Thank you everyone.
Storehouse West Update
Thanks again for your support of Storehouse West. A line of cars in the parking lot last week went out to Veranda. Prayers for our country’s and Sandoval County’s hungry and food insecure.
This must have been the week for baking: a cake, banana bread, and a strawberry rhubarb pie. A prayer shawl made and mailed for someone who is grieving; dropping off pizza and grocery shopping for another; helping with gifts to meet a specific need. A ‘hug’ token included in a WalMart delivery. And then there are all the notes, cards, calls, and prayers…we are the body of Christ! Resilient, able to show God’s love even in new and uncertain times! Thanks be to God!
Pentecost is May 31, and…
Pentecost is an important day at RRPC, as we celebrate for two reasons, the beginnings of the Christian church and RRPC’s chartering. Well, this year there are two additional reasons!
Pick-up Pentecost Scholarships Desserts to Go
Pentecost is when we gather as a church family around tables for a potluck after worship. Since we can’t have a Pentecost potluck, our Scholarships of Grace Committee is offering Desserts to Go! Pick-up will be from 2-3:30pm Pentecost Sunday (May 31) in our westside parking lot. This will be touchless, drive-up curb-side service. You will not even have to get out of your car. Prices are $3 and $4. Baklava, cheesecake, lemon and chocolate brownies, and pound cake are the five offerings. Please click here to order.
Pentecost Online Slide Show
As you know, we are creating a slideshow of our church family. Please send Pastor Kathy pictures of you! They can be doing stay-at-home activities, or selfies, or pictures from a recent (before-physical-separation) gathering or event. You can include other family, pets, and people who are special to you – just remember they will be viewed on our website. If possible, please choose or take the photos in landscape (horizontal/’the long way’) rather than portrait (vertical) orientation. The more slides, the better! So many of us enjoyed seeing the “Palm Sunday Procession” and our church family. Deadline for photos is next Saturday, May 23!
Masks, Masks, Masks!
Margaret Crowl is still making basic “surgical type” masks with ties in print fabric. There is no wire over the nose, no pocket, no interface, and no filter. She can provide you a maximum of two, no fabric or colors specs, no special orders, and no child masks.
If interested email her, firstname.lastname@example.org or call her landline 505-349-3723. When your order is ready, she will send you a message with pick-up instructions at her house in Vista Entrada in NE Rio Rancho. An optional donation of $1 per mask to cover the cost of materials is appreciated. Any excess donations will go to Storehouse West. Margaret will do her best to help you with any mask requests due to extenuating circumstances.
Another Mask-Making Opportunity
UNM Hospital is now accepting homemade masks donations to wear while at the hospital and afterwards for visitors and patients. If you know of anyone willing to donate homemade masks please have them email or call (505) 272-0967. For anyone needing mask-making instructions, please click here.
Navajo Nation Mission
Are you a mask maker? As many know, our Native American neighbors have been hit hard by the COVID-19 virus. RRPC has a connection with the Chinle chapter of the Navajo Nation, as the Mitchells are from there and still have family there. We are requesting masks for them, particularly for the elderly. Contact Pastor Kathy to arrange masks’ pick up.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect. —Romans 12: 2
