Las Placitas Presbyterian Church’s (LPPC) Dignity Mission in Juarez
A group of over 100 Haitian asylum seekers were sent back across the border recently carrying little more than the clothes on their backs. They arrived in Ciudad Juarez without shoes, particularly important ID documents, or even diapers for the children. The El Paso person who is the contact for LLPC’s Dignity Mission in Juarez ran out and purchased 38 pairs of shoes to distribute to the men, women and children who were forced back to Mexico. So, there are a few different needs this month among the usual: infant formula, new underwear (all sizes for children; sizes small and medium for adults), new dark-colored socks, diapers, children’s games or group toys, men’s belts (used are fine), shoelaces, school supplies, backpacks, t-shirts, toys, and flipflops. These items can be found on Amazon, and Prime members of course can mail directly with no shipping cost to Dignity Mission, c/o Dr. Eva Moya, 708 Somerset Drive, El Paso 79912. Please consider giving money through the LLPC website. $20 will purchase the 12 toiletry items needed to fill five Dignity Kits, or buy 20 pairs of flipflops, or two pairs of sneakers, or 8 pairs of underwear.
