Lent: A Season of Prayer

Lent begins February 17 with Ash Wednesday. We will not be doing the imposition of ashes. We are starting Lent with a Zoom prayer service at 7 p.m. on Feb. 17th. This will be an opportunity for us to begin our Lenten season, committing ourselves to the spiritual practices of self-examination, repentance, reflection and prayer.

Throughout this season, in coordination with the Lenten devotional our worship services will focus on the Bible’s prayer book: The Book of Psalms. You are encouraged to join us in this common journey as another way we are remaining connected in this time. If you would like to join us, please email or call Pastor Kathy at the number in the footer.

Las Placitas Presbyterian Church’s (LPPC) Dignity Mission in Juarez

Last month 150 families and 110 single adults benefited from the LPCC donations taken to El Paso Jan 23, and the same or more will be reached again this month. Click here for a translated letter from the director of the Quien Amara a los Niños program. There are a few different needs this month among the usual: infant formula, new underwear (all sizes for children; sizes small and medium for adults), new socks, diapers, sizes 3 and up, children’s games or group toys, school supplies, backpacks, t-shirts, and flipflops.

All items listed above also can be found on Amazon, and Prime members can mail directly with no shipping costs to Dignity Mission, c/o Dr. Eva Moya, 708 Somerset Drive, El Paso 79912. If you prefer, go to the LLPC website to give money (choose ‘mission/dignity kits’ as the fund in the dropdown), or mail a check with Dignity Mission noted in the memo line to Las Placitas Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 768, Placitas, 87043. Thank you for your support. You’re in good company–in addition to from all over NM, donors come from CA, CO, WI, ND, WA, UT, PA, and NC!
